5 Safety Tips For Baby Canopy Cribs

Baby canopy cribs are a beautiful addition to almost any infant's bedroom. They can be elegant or traditional, or anything in between. Some parents even choose to dress up the canopy with fun accents that tie the crib in with the baby's room decor. However, before you make any additions, always perform a safety check. Baby canopy cribs can be an attractive choice for your little one, as long as you are aware of these safety tips.

Graco Baby Play Yard

Tip #1: Constructing the Crib

Graco Baby Play Yard

Every parent knows that when you put the baby's crib together, you should perform a stability check. Make sure all parts are installed correctly and each mechanism functions as it is supposed to. When building baby canopy cribs you have to check for more than wobbly legs and loose sides. Baby canopy cribs have an extra part added: the canopy. Ensure you have added this to your list and verified the stability and strength of the canopy before using the crib.

Tip #2: Fabric Additions to the Crib

Baby canopy cribs look stunning with lengths of fabric added to the top or down the posts and sides. When incorporating these elements, make sure they are not in reach of the sleeping little one. A length of fabric that falls into the crib can become wrapped around your little one. Each piece should remain outside of the crib.

Tip #3: Secure Canopy Accents

Your safest bet when dressing up baby canopy cribs is to avoid a lot of little pieces on the canopy. These can become loose and fall into the crib, where they could pose a danger to your baby. When you do make additions to the canopy, always verify they are secure and cannot potentially fall in.

Tip #4: Outside Dangers

Baby canopy cribs are generally safe, however you should also consider outside dangers that can lurk even in your baby's bedroom. Make sure the crib is a safe distance from wall hangings, shelves and other potential falling hazards. Keep in mind, the canopy is not intended to act as a shield should something heavy fall on to it. Even if the wall hanging feels stable, you never know when an accidentally thump or vibration in the house might knock something loose.

Tip #5: Follow Up Checks

For the most part, canopy baby cribs are just as durable as regular cribs. They should work fine, as long as you purchased a quality model in good condition and followed these safety tips as well as manufacturer's directions. Although the crib is sturdy, it is still a good practice to periodically check for wear and tear on the joints, mechanisms and anything that is weight bearing on the crib. This will help you stop a potential problem before it poses a serious threat to your baby.

Follow these safety tips and you can get plenty of safe use out of baby canopy cribs. Dress up your infant's room with one of the most popular crib styles available. The possibilities are endless when it comes to decorating a crib canopy, so get creative but remember to keep safety in mind.

Luxury Baby Bedding and Baby Furniture to Match Your Baby's Style

Many parents only have a vague idea of all of the baby gear they'll need for their baby. The basics include a car seat (assuming you have a vehicle), a stroller (unless you plan to wear your baby in a wrap, and even then most babies are too heavy to wear by the time they are a year old), an infant seat or high chair (somewhere to place your baby for feeding time and snack time), and a place to sleep. Depending on the parent you speak with, you'll find that there are many different options for what a baby should sleep in. You have your standard crib, a playpen (often referred to as a Pack 'n Play, which is actually the name of Graco's playpen and not a synonym for playpen or activity yard), bassinets, Moses baskets (these are only appropriate for babies who are not sitting up) and cradles. There are also in-bed and bedside cots for those parents who wish to co-sleep with their babies. These sleeping choices are perfect and convenient solutions for breastfeeding mothers, as they put baby within arm's reach. Not having to get up and go across the room or down the hall for a hungry baby at two in the morning is always a relief!

Graco Baby Play Yard

Most parents will tell you that the best solution for sleeping is a crib outfitted with luxury baby bedding. A crib grows with your baby, and many convert into toddler beds and even full-sized or queen-sized beds. The crib is the queen of baby furniture, simply because it lasts so long and provides a truly safe haven for your baby. Cribs feature adjustable bottoms and sides. This means that infants can have their crib mattresses raised up so that Mom and Dad don't have to lean too far into the crib to pick them up or place them down. For babies who are pulling themselves up and young toddlers that are standing, the crib mattress can be dropped to a very low height, so that there is no risk of the child being able to push themselves over the railing and out of the crib.

Graco Baby Play Yard

Once you do select the appropriate baby furniture for your child to sleep in, you'll need to think about baby bedding. Luxury baby bedding is one choice that many new parents, mothers especially, will often make room in their budget to splurge on. This is because baby bedding is a once-in-a-lifetime investment for your baby, as you only need one dust ruffle, one crib bumper and headboard cover, one blanket or quilt and a few different crib sheets. Not only is luxury beautiful, it also feels super soft on your baby's skin. While luxury baby bedding is often more expensive than standard crib bedding, you're paying for exceptional style and quality materials that will last with even the most active of babies.

Go Through Eddie Bauer Baby Gear Products Before You Buy Anything For the Baby

Very often, new parents buy a baby travel system, even before the baby arrives. Indeed, a stroller with a matching car seat is really handy if you use your car a lot. While in car, put the baby in car seat that is designed with the baby's comfort and safety in mind and once you reach your destination, take out the stroller from the car, put the baby along with the car seat into the stroller, and be on your way. There is no need to awaken a sleepy baby or disturb him in any way.

Graco Baby Play Yard

However, once the baby arrives, many parents begin to complain about the bulkiness of the stroller and since a travel system will cost at least 0 or more, you should think twice before you buy it. Take for example the Eddie Bauer Safety First EuroStar Travel System. It costs 9.99, although, if you are lucky, you can have it for much less. It includes a stroller, an infant car seat and a stay-in-car seat base.

Graco Baby Play Yard

The car seat is the most important gear in the baby travel system, because it involves the question of the baby's safety, as well as the comfort when you are traveling in car. Eddie Bauer Safety First EuroStar car seat provides a plush seating area with infant head support for comfortably cradling your baby. The stay in car seat base provides for quick and easy car seat installing and removal. Eddie Bauer Safety First EuroStar stroller has 1-hand fold and stand with self-locking features that minimizes the hassle of unfolding and folding the stroller. This lightweight, yet safe stroller has parent and child trays with cup-holders on each and an oversized spring down storage basket that holds everything for the baby's day out. On top of every thing, the seating area provides infinite comforts and support for your baby, so that the baby may have any position it likes to have, from reclining to seating.

So which new parent will be able to resist such a piece de art? But, wait! Do you really need it? You will be much wiser if you look through all the Eddie Bauer baby gear products. Eddie Bauer has become almost the first name in baby gear system. They have some excellent car seat that you can buy separately and use with a separate stroller. Alternatively, you can and you should carry the baby in the car seat while you are traveling in the car. Once you reach your destination, put him in a sling or in a pouch. Eddie Bauer Convertible car seats can adjust to your child's growth from newborn up to the age they can be put in the safety belts. Such a convertible car seat can cost you around 0. There are other designs that you may get for less.

Eddie Bauer baby gear has a variety of products. Some of them include:

10. high chairs
11. digital video monitors etc

Baby diaper bags are indispensable, if you want to take the baby on a day's outing and if you have a baby, you probably have one. Eddie Bauer too has a variety of diaper bags. Baby tote diaper bags combines versatility with convenience. With ample rooms the baby tote diaper bags not only allows you to carry baby's items, but a bit of your own too.

There are mini diaper bags too. You can use them while running for quick errands, when you do not need a standard diaper bag. You can buy them in different colors to match your different dresses. Sling diaper bags are for you if you prefer to carry them on the shoulder or on the back. Backpacks are convenient if you are going for a hike or for a long walk. It keeps your hands free for other jobs.

Ideally, a diaper bag has to be specious enough with outside pockets for milk bottles and other things that you may need often enough. It will be nicer if the pockets are insulated, so that the baby food stays in the preferred temperature. It should have different compartments for different baby things, so that you do not have to take all the contents out for one little thing.

Levana ClearVu Digital Video Baby Monitor Review

The Levana ClearVu® Digital Video Baby Monitor, model LV-TW301 offers good value for money, costing around 0. It may be short on features that many other models have, but it does have some useful ones that make it a very good option.

Graco Baby Play Yard

Highlighted here are the key features of this Levana video baby monitor.

Graco Baby Play Yard

- 2.4″ TFT LCD color screen.
- Digital, 2.4GHz technology with a signal range of up to 350ft.
- Audio only function.
- Adjustable brightness and volume.
- Can support up to 4 cameras.
- Automatic black and white night vision with 10 ft vision range.
- Color changing built-in night light.

What's important when buying a video baby monitor is to have clear picture and audio quality. Levana state that their ClearVu digital technology ensures outstanding image clarity so that you can watch your child's every move. With a signal range that reaches up to a maximum of 350 feet you can see and hear your little one downstairs or out in the yard.

Customers seem to be happy with the video quality, but some have complained that they experienced static interference with the audio. Even though digital is virtually interference free, many other devices such as WiFi routers run on the same frequency and can interfere with the signal. Some people never have any interference problems whereas other people do. This can often all depend on whether you live in a built up or more suburban area.

The Levana ClearVu digital video monitor is very easy to set up, all you really need to do is plug in and play. You get a user's manual which shows you where everything is and how to use the functions. The unit is extremely compact and lightweight, so you can take it with you whether you are going on vacation or to stay with relatives.

You can move the parent unit around the house or place it in its base to recharge. Unfortunately there's no kick stand to stand it up when it's not in the recharge base or a belt clip to carry it around hands free. This is a complaint from some customers who said they didn't know the monitor came without a kick stand. Without a kick stand, the monitor is difficult to stand upright and therefore not very portable.

The cool thing about this video monitor is that the camera has a rainbow color changing, built-in light display that turns on automatically when the room gets dark. You can turn off the night light manually once your child is asleep. Many babies seem to find the different color lights soothing.

For the price you get a pretty good digital video baby monitor. The Levana ClearVu monitor offers a good signal range as well as great picture and audio quality. It may be short on features that other more expensive models offer, but it does have many useful functions.

Canopies Vs Pergolas: What's More Attractive?

Though there are already plenty of shade structures you can choose from, it still remains a very tight battle between two of them: canopies and pergolas. They are usually pitted against one another not just in their function but also in their form and overall aesthetic value.

Graco Baby Play Yard

They're Relatives!

Graco Baby Play Yard

The truth is there's not much difference between the two-at first glance. First of all, both belong to the shade family, making them sisters or relatives, whatever you want to call them. They also offer protection to users, whether residential or commercial, against the heat of the sun and environmental hazards. They may also provide cover against dust. Depending on how they're set up, canopies and pergolas can withstand strong gusts of wind.

Why They Differ

Nevertheless, they are still quite different. Canopies, for example, may have been derived from the more elaborate gazebos. Gazebos are dome- and pavilion like, with space enough for a lot of people. However, since a lot of homes these days aren't so blessed with a huge yard, many owners decided to adapt the concept and create something else; thus, the canopies came about. Canopies can extend from your home or be freestanding. Unlike gazebos, it's typical for you to see canopies that are made from fabrics.

The pergolas, on the other hand, are distinct because of their style. Instead of a full cover over, you're going to see slats or beams that are criss-crossed. Sometimes they are covered with a transparent material, but almost always, the roofs are adorned with vines.

Which One Then Is Prettier?

Both are, in general, visually appealing in terms of color. After all, there's no more limit shade you want. You can definitely go elegant to absurd and crazy with your options. But they do give off a different set of vibes.

Canopies are usually more streamlined, whether the roofs are domed or flat. They are more formal and simplistic than pergolas. If you're building a more modern or Zen-like home, the best option for you will definitely be these.

Pergolas, however, are charming. That's why they're often freestanding structures in gardens and open yards. They serve as trellises for the vines, creating a gorgeous mystical feel. It's easier for you to play around and generate more creative results with pergolas.

Both are beautiful, yes. Your choice now depends on what you really want. Would you want more artistry or more simplicity?

Graco TotBloc Pack 'N Play with Carry Bag, Bugs Quilt Feature

• Large and roomy 36" x 36" square play space for little one to play
• Sets up and folds in less than a minute for use anywhere and everywhere
• Durable frame weighs less than 25 pounds and airy mesh on all sides provide maximum ventilation
• Convenient carrying bag for no-fuss travel and storage
• Easy to clean

Graco TotBloc Pack 'N Play with Carry Bag, Bugs Quilt Overview

Whether home or away, this Pack 'N Play Playard helps you give Baby a safe place to play. It has a strong, stable frame and airy mesh walls so Baby's comfortable and 4 interactive bug toys to keep him entertained. The roomy square design gives him plenty of play space to crawl, explore, and figure out what to do with all those developing muscles. It sets up and folds in less than a minute and comes with a handy carry bag, so you can easily bring it with you to your yard, the beach, Grandma's, or anywhere the day might take you.

Graco TotBloc Pack 'N Play with Carry Bag, Bugs Quilt Specifications

The first thing to note about Graco’s pack ‘n play is that it is larger than many playards. This colorful, mesh-sided pen unfolds to a 38" x 38" square, rather than the rectangular shape of most others on the market. While this equates to needing more space, it also means that baby is provided with a bigger (and sturdier) area to play in. The playard’s stability comes from a four-footed metal frame, which-along with the four corner feet-gives it eight points of contact with the ground.

The included bag makes storing and carrying easy.

Setup takes one person only minutes, from snapping the frame in place to securing the rigid, padded-top floor (cutely decorated with a fun bug pattern) with the Velcro fasteners. Breaking it down again is just as simple, and there is a convenient nylon storage/carrying bag included for easy portability. Bundled up, the pack ‘n play measures a compact 38 inches long by 10 inches square, but at nearly 24 pounds, it might be heavier than expected.

Baby will appreciate the extra space, the friendly bug motif, being able to see mom and dad through the soft mesh walls, and the four interactive toys-one on each side. There’s a sun with a mirror at its center, teaching baby self-awareness. The ladybug’s body houses a squeak toy. Show them how to beep it to teach ear, eye, and hand coordination. Both the bee and the butterfly have wings that "flap" inside the playpen-one set creates a rattling noise when moved, while the other makes a crinkling sound. Baby will enjoy the different sounds, textures, and stimulations the toys offer, while parents will enjoy not having to pick them up or losing them.

Care for the pack ’n play is easy: use a damp cloth or sponge with household soap to wipe vinyl, plastic, and metal parts; the bag can be machine washed and either line dried or tumbled on low. Should you need to replace the bag or floor pad, both are available for purchase separately.

Choosing An Ideal Baby Name

So you have been privileged with a child and now you have come under the category of a parent. Your joys are ever growing each day and now you have the homework of searching a name for you child.

Graco Baby Play Yard

Like every parent you want a name that is different and not very common. But what is different for you may be very common world over. Hence your homework has to be intense yet simple. Here are the following points to consider when you are naming your child.

Graco Baby Play Yard

How the name sounds?

When on the lookout for names, say the name aloud. So you know how it sounds. Sometimes amalgamating names sound a bit odd. Also if the name ends with a vowel and the surname begins with a vowel, it sometimes becomes a tongue twister. Rena Arora or Pete Emporio

The meaning

For some people the meaning of the name is very important. Especially in religious families. For instance in India many cultures look at the star sign and deduce a letter from which the name should begin. In some cultures in England the fathers name or the grandfathers name is taken. But keep in mind that you are in a modern world so Henry IV will not sound appealing when your kid grows up. Ingrid means a hero's daughter, stockyard means stumps from the yard. When your child grows up, he or she may not be very comfortable with their names due to the meanings.

The unique feature

Most of the times people take up names thinking there is no other such name. But only when they put them in play school they realize that there are three more Jacobs or five Jacks. Mitchelle too is a very common name. So try to find a name that is different but at the same time make sure they are not tongue twisters or difficult to pronounce. So names like Stanskov, Zachary, Yebedin may sound fine in your community or country. But when he or she will travel, the name can be quite a hurdle.

Points of views

There will be many friends and family members pushing you to keep the baby's name as theirs. But aunt Magaretta or uncle Basilio does not understand that the names in the modern era are simple and few lettered. So you make the decision on your child's behalf. There can be other ways in showing your great aunts and uncles your gratitude then naming your child Alexander Douglas John as your poor child will have to stick to it for the rest of his life.

Nicknaming

As adults we can swallow the jokes made on us. But for kids it is not always amusing when one calls them by a nickname. 'Walden' gets a pet name Waldie that becomes 'baldie', Dumster becomes 'dum' and so on. Hence looking at a name from all angles is very important for your child.

All the points given above are not intensive and compulsory to be followed. The underling point is that it should be preferred by both of you.

Activities for Active Toddler Boys

My husband and I have been blessed with twin boys. Our boys are
18 months old now, and I often tell my husband that God must have
a sense of humor to give someone twin toddler boys. Some days it
doesn't seem very funny!

Graco Baby Play Yard

Yesterday, during the same 15 minute phone call, one son decided
to crawl up onto a chair and then the dining room table, and I
found the other one in his bedroom where he had pulled out all of
his dresser drawers, climbed up the drawers, and was standing on
top of his dresser looking down into his fish tank. There is
never a dull moment in our home.

Graco Baby Play Yard

During the past few months I have discovered what my boys most
love to do and what keeps them busy for even short periods of
time. I have geared my ideas toward boys because they normally
have higher activity levels, but I'm sure these ideas would work
great for girls too!

It is well known that kids love to play with everything except
their toys, and I have definitely found this to be true with my
boys. Many of their favorite activities are inexpensive or even
free.

Toddlers love music. Many babies will begin to dance to music
before they're even a year old. There are many great CD's out
there for toddlers. A couple of our favorites are Wee Sing Silly
Songs and Veggie Tales. Nursery rhymes are always great too. We
have found many CD's at yard sales or half price at stores that
sell used CD's. My boys enjoy dancing to music during the day,
and like to have it playing softly in the background while they
go to sleep. Make sure to put your CD player up out of their
reach. I have to get a shelf to put mine up on the wall because
my boys can now climb up to anywhere else I have found to put it.
They have become very fascinated with taking CD's in and out of
it and pushing all of the buttons!

My boys love to play with water. I bought them a wading pool
this year but they were hardly interested in it at all. They
much preferred playing in a little sprinkler in the shape of a
turtle. Bath time is also a favorite time. They hardly play
with any of the bath toys I bought them. Their favorite bath
toys are small Tupperware containers and plastic measuring cups.
The store-bought bath toys they do enjoy, however, are little
plastic cups that have holes in the bottom so that the water runs
through them. They also love going to the river and throwing
rocks in the water. Just don't let them out of your sight for a
second, or they will quite suddenly decide to go for a swim.
Swimming lessons seem to have done a great job of eliminating
their fear of water! The boys also spend hours playing in a
small water fountain we have in our back yard.

Books are great for even the most active boys. We bought many
board books for our boys and read to them for months before they
really showed an interest in them. When they were about 15
months old they began to bring us books to read to them. One of
our boys is obsessed with cars, trucks, and tractors, and the
other one loves animals. After seeing these images over and over
in books they now are pointing them out to us when we drive
around town. One of our sons goes nuts every time we drive by an
excavator or back hoe. One word of caution, however. Whoever
said board books are indestructible didn't know what they were
talking about. Our boys have destroyed several of their board
books by ripping the pictures off the cardboard. Most of the
damage is done when they are reading to themselves in bed, so
these books need adult supervision just like any other book.

Make sure you take your boys outside at least once a day. Every
morning I take the boys for a walk around the neighborhood in
their double stroller. If you are a working mom, take your boys
out for some fresh air in the evenings or on the weekend. The
boys enjoy the ride and mom gets some exercise too. One of my
sons points out all the airplanes that fly overhead, and that is
one of the highlights of his day. I also found the boys a play
golf set at Walmart (for about ). They love to run around the
yard trying to hit the plastic golf balls, and it is great for
improving their coordination.

My boys' favorite toys are their cars, trucks, and tractors.
They love pushing them around on the floor and making motor
noises. You can easily find inexpensive toy cars at yard sales
and thrift stores that will give your toddler boys hours of fun.

To fully interact with and engage your toddler, you have to
figure out their personality. One of my boys loves to help mom
and do whatever I'm doing. Whenever I ask him to help me do
something he gives me a big smile and pitches right in. My other
son has no interest whatsoever in helping me...boring!! He has
too many other exciting things to explore. To get his attention
I ask him to show me what he is doing and participate in whatever
is interesting him at the moment. He loves to point at things
and have me tell him what they are.

Don't forget that your boys love to play with mom and dad and
need lots of love and affection. They love it when you play cars
with them or read to them. Some of our favorite moments have
been spent lying on the floor with two toddlers crawling all over
us giving us lots of big hugs and kisses.
